We just need more Kanthony, TBH.

Just when we thought we couldn't possibly become any more obsessed with Bridgerton's Kanthony, they made their way back to the Ton for season 3 – and wow, is that chemistry still boiling over.

There are debates raging across the internet about which of the Netflix show's leading couples has had the most engaging love story and, while we don't wish to pit the show's women against each other, we'll concede that Kate (Simone Ashley) and Anthony (Jonathan Bailey) left us wanting so much more.

The Kanthony season (more commonly known as season two) ended with their wedding day, after eight episodes of quite frankly ridiculous levels of tension.

Watching the eldest Bridgerton brother going from self-confessed "Capital R Rake" to professing that Kate was both the "bane of my existence" and "the object of all my desires" is unmatched character development.

And don't even get us started on the intense sideward glances across the ballroom. With Kate and Anthony only just getting together, officially, in the final episode of their season, we needed more of them on our screens.

But after the divisive departure of Regé-Jean Page, following the Duke's initial season, the stage was set for a "one and done" approach to Bridgerton's couples.

His bride, and eldest of the Bridgerton family daughters, Daphne (Phoebe Dynevor) came back for the second season, allowing for a bread-crumbing of marital updates along the way. But we never again got to actually see what happened to season one's central love story, after their initial arc was done.

In that way, Kate and Anthony mark an important and welcome change for the Shondaland production.

While there may be a myriad of behind-the-scenes reasons why actors might choose to duck out of the show, as an audience we want more of the characters we've grown to love and, well, we want them all to stick around.

You can't really blame our investment levels when we've spent an entire season engulfed in a relationship origin story – particularly when said story is as magnetic as Kate and Anthony's.

The newlyweds' return for Bridgerton's third season has given us the opportunity to see what life is like for them beyond the initial honeymoon. And the decision for them to extend that – staying under the Bridgerton family roof – keeps them in the thick of the story.

The couple's intimate scene in episode one of the new season was a welcome look through the keyhole at their joint bliss, having missed out on that part of their romance last season.

Our only complaint of season three so far is that we've not had enough Kanthony. But when they're stealing every scene that they're in – can we take a moment to appreciate that ballroom dance? – we concede that the show needed to pull the camera away to give the rest of the characters a fighting chance.

That being said, we're hoping for more Kanthony content in part two of the show's third season.
