2002 Chevrolet Corvette Coupe
More than 250,000 fifth generation corvettes were produced, andthey represented cosmetic and technological advancement over theC4. The body was more streamlined and soft edges became evensofter, more seamless. Both the C4 and the C5 have 5.7 literengines, but in 1997, Chevy's introduction of the LS1 engineyielding an incredible 100 horsepower over the C4 while retainingthe substantial torque numbers. The realignment of weight includingthe use of a transaxle, along with other structural changes,greatly balanced and improved handling of the C5's.

Exterior
The third most common color in 2002 for the Corvette is ElectronBlue Metallic. Common in terms of Corvette numbers, about 35,000 in2002, but not common overall with just 5,407 C5's leaving the plantin this color. It's a beautiful medium blue that covers our car infine style with a few imperfections that include scuffs on the chinand surrounding cover. The embossed Corvette in back is painted redand below it, quad chrome exhaust tips enter in the center flankedby air splitting slits in the bumper cover. The targa top isremovable and tinted so it allows shaded light to the cabin andadds a nice design element to the exterior. From the side, the caris decidedly wedge shaped with a high rounded back and staggeredwheels with 17-inch chrome 5 spoke wheels up front and 18's in theback. The front is also epic Corvette with hidden headlightsfronting a long, low streamlined hood. Imperfections noticed otherthan the previously mentioned scuffs include delamination of thetarga top, and some curb rash and chrome chips on wheels.
Interior
Oh sure, you could have a black interior with your Corvette, or youmay have opted for this beautiful contrasting gray, which starts onthe two toned door panels with typical molded plastic black topsand gray lowers. The bucket seats, in fine shape and stitched grayleather in varying patterns, are supportive with decent bolsteringand an integrated headrest. Never missing a branding opportunity,Corvette is embroidered on each seat while the crossed flag emblemappears on the black steering wheel and in each of the black facedgauges ahead. A pod of buttons flanks the gauge cluster on theright and more buttons are sculpted in on the left. Fullyintegrated controls for the radio and climate system takes up thevertical center stack which makes a right angle turn to house theshifter in the center console, all in great condition. The low pilegray carpet is clean, protected by Corvette mats and it appears thebrake pedal pad is missing.
Drivetrain
Pivot the hood forward to reveal the clean engine bay replete withplastic covers and housing the venerable 5.7 liter LS1 V8 puttingout a whopping 350 horsepower and this one tied to a 4L60E 4-speedautomatic transmission with 2.73 gears in the rear. We would expectnothing short of power disc brakes all the way around and that'swhat is present.
Undercarriage
Yep, no signs of being driven in the rain under here as it's allclean and dry including the belly pans and suspension components.Original equipment mufflers are in place as the dual exhaust runsthe length of the car with individual cats right off the engine.Complex independent suspension features aluminum controls arms withtransverse monoleaf springs.
Drive-Ability
With less than 40,000 pampered miles, we expected a good runningcar and indeed, the Vette did not let us down. Obviously, greatpower is on hand and a comfortable co*ckpit, while handling is likea train on rails. All systems go, and the car is poised for thenext owner as a turnkey classic!
