Luffy didn't expect to find his father in the middle of one of his ocean voyages. The Straw Hat crew made a small stop on an island not far from their current location.
Nami forced them to stop and restock, as Sanji had accidentally left the fridge lock unlocked, which resulted in a completely empty fridge by morning.
Nami hit Sanji until he had three lumps on his head and said he would be in eternal debt to her. She turned to Sanji, but Luffy didn’t pay attention to what she said, only hearing Sanji’s romantic pleas.
Because of this "accident," they were now in search of new supplies. Nami made them split into teams: Brook, Franky, Usopp, Chopper, and Jinbe stayed on the ship, while Sanji, Nami, Zoro, and Robin went shopping, in disguise, as they didn’t know the country's rules.
Luffy just wore one of Usopp's yellow shirts and decided it was enough. No one really complained, except Usopp, who said he already missed his favorite shirt.
They passed through a celebration fair. Although Luffy wasn’t sure what it was about, he managed to get two large pieces of meat. The rest of the day passed quickly: they had fun, tasted the city’s different spices, and finally restocked for the next island.
As they walked back to the ship, Luffy saw a familiar figure: a tall pipe and a characteristic top hat. Sabo!
"HEY, SABO!!" Luffy ran, waving his arms, while Nami yelled for him to come back.
Sabo turned with a small smile, already opening his arms for Luffy’s hug. Luffy clung to his older brother with a happy smile and a giggle.
"Luffy, it's good to see you! And your crew too!" He waved at the approaching crew with a small smile.
Robin had a sweet smile on her rosy lips. "Sabo, I didn’t know the Revolutionary Army had plans on this island." Her voice was calm but carried a certain concern.
"Ah, Robin, the Revolutionary Army had no plans for this island, but our little girl has grown too much and her father decided she needs new clothes." He laughed while hugging Luffy even tighter. "Despite that, it’s good to see you, Lu. You should see your little sister, she misses you."
The entire crew made a noise of shock, and Nami quickly said, "You also have a sister? Where do you find so many siblings?"
"Hey, that's my father's fault. It's not my fault if he wanted another child." Luffy retorted, pouting.
"Oh, I didn’t imagine Dragon would have another child, though I can’t say I’m surprised." Robin said with her cautious smile.
The rest of the crew didn’t seem as calm as Robin, with shocked and confused looks on their faces.
Nami quickly recovered from her shock. "Well, that's impressive, but we need to get to the ship before the purchases thaw."
Sanji agreed. "Nami-san is always right and beautiful too. We should hurry, or dinner will also be delayed."
"DINNER!" Luffy shouted, raising his hands and letting go of Sabo. "Sabo, you and Dad should come too. Bring Joy, I’m sure she’ll love Sanji’s meat."
Sabo gave a small smile and agreed to come for dinner, bidding farewell to the crew and waving to everyone.
They walked quickly, still in shock from Sabo's revelation, at least most of them. Robin seemed curious.
"Captain, I'm surprised to learn that your father was willing to have more children, especially as the leader of the Revolutionary Army." Robin replied, scratching her chin with her nails.
"Uhh, you know, my dad found something he loves and it happened, for the second time." He laughed. Robin also laughed, while Sanji thought about which woman would lie with Dragon, the Revolutionary.
The rest of the walk to the ship was silent, with only the crew's minds deeply pondering what had just happened.
They arrived and Sanji ran to the kitchen while Luffy shouted for meat.
While dinner was being prepared, the Sunny was checked by Franky to make sure there were no problems. A ship with the Revolutionary Army's flag approached. Franky shouted for the rest of the crew and Luffy waved his arms at them.
The ship approached and stopped side by side with the Sunny. From it came Sabo, Koala, and Dragon, with a child of at most one year old in his arms, who smiled and played with his hair.
"Hey, hey, hey, Dad!!" Luffy shouted, waving his rubber arms and quickly jumped close to Dragon and the baby in his arms. "Hey, little baby."
Luffy stopped in front of his father and raised his arms with a silent request to hold the little baby.
"Be gentle with her, Luffy." Dragon had a tired face, with dark circles around his eyes, but he still smiled at his son.
Luffy grabbed the little child and put her on his shoulders, with a smile. "Now you can see everything, can't you, Joy? Shishi." His laughter filled the environment.
"Robin! You look beautiful!" Koala reached Robin with a smile, hugging her tightly.
The other Straw Hat members approached. Jinbe smiled at Dragon, Usopp and Nami looked like they were about to faint from nervousness, Zoro didn't seem to care much, Sanji was saying how beautiful Koala was, Franky and Brook stood aside, but very curious, and Chopper ran close to Luffy, scolding and explaining how to hold the baby correctly.
"Luffy, hold her properly, you don't know whose child this is and how much she could get hurt." Chopper shouted and flapped his arms in panic about the safety of an unknown baby.
"Of course, I know who Joy is, she’s my cutest little sister ever, a Monkey D." Luffy took Joy off his shoulders and tickled her belly while giving her a kiss on her chubby baby cheek.
The crew shouted at the same time.
"MONKEY D? You’ve got to be kidding me!" Usopp had a face of absolute shock as he seemed to rethink every moment of his life.
Jinbe also seemed shocked, with his mouth open and a slight look of doubt. Dragon gave an awkward giggle as everyone stared at him in amazement.
Brook seemed thoughtful. "This might be an intrusive question..." Nami interrupted him. "You can't see anyone's panties!" She shouted, hitting his bony head.
"Well, this is shocking, but we’ll have a new revolutionary, SUPERRRR!" Franky shouted with a smile while changing his hair and approaching the baby, making faces.
"I'm not sure if she will be a Revolutionary, I believe she will be a Shichibukai." This voice, along with a characteristic laugh, alarmed the Straw Hats. Zoro and Sanji prepared to fight, while the rest of the crew looked in shock at the man. Crocodile, the man who was defeated by Luffy and almost killed his companion Robin.
"Wani, my dear, you should be resting." Without any fear, Dragon approached Crocodile with a smile and put his hands on his waist.
Crocodile just put his hand around Dragon's neck and rolled his eyes affectionately. "I'm fine, Dragon, don't worry about that."
The baby, Luffy's little sister, waved her little hands and started to whimper, pointing at Crocodile, who quickly let go of Dragon and approached the baby. Now close enough, the Straw Hats could see he wasn't wearing his golden hook.
Zoro started to approach to protect the baby, but Luffy stopped him. "Don't stop my father from seeing my little sister."
Now the crew was in absolute shock, with pale faces, except Robin, who just chuckled.
"That's impossible! Crocodile is your father? That's..." Nami put her hand on her head while thinking and doing the mental calculations.
Sanji seemed surprised, but then seemed to understand, mainly because of his time with Iva.
Jinbe seemed extremely surprised, considering how much he knew about Crocodile, but this also cleared up some doubts he had since Impel Down.
Robin didn't seem surprised; she chuckled a bit while giving small pats on Sabo's shoulder, as a form of indirect comfort, and whispered in his ear. Koala also laughed.
Franky cried for the happiness that must be having Luffy as a son. Usopp just panicked, thinking Luffy might get beaten by his father for everything that happened in Alabasta, so he stayed out of the line of danger. Brook grabbed his violin and played about how love is moving and unpredictable.
Zoro seemed slightly annoyed and muttered about how he still deserved that beating in Alabasta.
Chopper seemed the most confused. "This shouldn't be biologically possible, men shouldn't be able to have two biological children."
Crocodile held Joy in his arms, while her brother made silly faces at her, making her laugh a lot. Crocodile had a small smile on his face while gently rocking his youngest daughter in his arms.
Dragon smiled and turned to Chopper. "Well, little doctor, my husband managed it. It's not a very complex medical explanation. Wani was born in a female body, but soon discovered he was actually a man." Dragon had a goofy smile on his face the whole time, and after his brief explanation, he began to ramble a bit about how his husband was beautiful in both versions, which received protests from Crocodile.
Their family moment was interrupted by Luffy's stomach growling for food. Sanji laughed and said it was time for the feast. The whole family and the crew gathered, making a bonfire and celebrating the food and the addition of another person to the Monkey D. family. They were strange, that was certain, but still, they knew what it was to love.
