Dying Man Says Robber Wrecked Car Hurt Covington Suspect Is Taken to Hospital Covington, Aug. 27 inRobert Brandner, 50, died Wednesday shortly after telling police identified as William McMahan, 27, Covington, commandeered his automobile, robbed him, and then crashed the car into a utility pole. Police arrested McMahan on a charge of robbery and Wednesday night he was taken to Booth Hospital for treatment of back injuries. Officers said a charge of involuntary manslaughter would be placed against him later.

Kenton County Patrolman Thomas Maley and Detectives Robert Teipel and William Taylor said Brandner made a statement shortly before he died of injuries suffered in the crash. In the statement he said McMahan forced his way into the automobile at a street intersection here. The officers quoted Brandner as saying McMahan held his hand as if he had gun and forced Brandner to drive to Madison Pike, where he took Brander's wallet with $10 in it and then started driving. A short distance away the car skidded off the highway and hit the utility pole. Maley said McMahan told him he could not remember how he happened to be in the automobile.

Brothers Harland, the Belfast aircraft company partly owned by the British Government, claimed Wednesday to have produced the world's most advanced plane for unmanned operations in guidedmissile test firings.

It said the aircraft, a version of the Canberra jet bomber, had flown over 50,000 feet under automatic direction from the ground. A pilot and an observer were on board for safety reasons but did not touch the controls. Flights at greater altitudes are planned, using rocket boosters.
